So Friday night we decided to run to Target for some shelving units we've been looking at for our closet. First we stopped at my dad's house to pick up my little brother so he could stay the night. Then we headed for Target. We were there for maybe 5 minutes when Alexis saw a little girl riding underneath a cart and wanted to do it too. I remember my mom letting me do the same thing when I was her age so I decided to let her. She got under there and I told her "keep your hands away from wheels." Which of course she proceeded to do just that. Her finger was run over by one of the wheels and it almost ripped her fingernail off (remind you of anyone?).
So we took off and made our way to the ER to have a doctor take a look at it. Nate, Jonathan and my little brother dropped Alexis and me off and Alexis's father met us there to help comfort her. She actually took it quite well. She only cried for about 5 minutes when it first happened and was in relatively good spirits the rest of the time.
So after 3 hours and an x-ray to make sure nothing was broken the doctor took a look at it and...put a bandaid on it! Yes, that was it. He said it will probably fall off on it's own in the next few days but in the meanwhile to just leave it alone and change the bandaid when it gets wet. The nail will offer a little more protection to the nailbed and decrease the chances of infection.
Saturday, one of our neighbors came over and told us that they have been having problems with our cats being around their cats. Dang cats! OK, understandable, so now we have to make sure they either stay in or keep them on leashes when they're outside. Anyone who has owned a cat can probably understand how that is going over. One of our cats has already slipped his leash once so now they are stuck in the house and driving us up a wall!
After we found that out we made our way back to Target to finish the shopping we were trying to do the night before plus we now have to buy leashes and collars for the cats. Luckily that trip was a lot less eventful. I talked to my dad on the ride there and he wanted my brother to come home to watch my 2 sisters but I had the great idea of having them drop the girls off to stay the night. Including our own that was 5 kids for the night! I think I must be crazy!
We dropped Alexis off at her father's for a visit for a few hours and went back home. We knocked out some more of the wall in the kitchen to open up the former bedroom into a diningroom. Got that all done and cleaned up just in time for Alexis to get dropped back off at 8:00.
The girls got dropped off about a half hour later and we made cupcakes and the kids played together for a while. We let them stay up a little later than usual since this was kind of a special event for them. Around 10:00 we started trying to get them down. We blew up the air mattress and put them in the livingroom together with a movie on to get them to wind down. That worked for a little while but of course they kept acting up. I eventually went to bed at 3:00am after hours of trying to get them down and they were still up! Then they were up again at 7:00am! Oh, and my little brother was here for the night too but we barely heard a peep out of him. Get him on his laptop and he's fine by himself for hours.
We got everyone up and ready and dropped them off around 11:30 this morning. Shortly after we get a text from my ex. He had his son over when he had Alexis and apparently he had a cold and didn't tell me. Well they found out this morning that he has RSV (poor kid) and my ex tells me to make sure to watch Alexis to see if she's getting sick and keep her away from Jonathan. RSV is pretty serious and can be deadly especially in younger babies, infants, and the elderly. That's just great...
What a crazy weekend.
