Kayleigh Anne Freeman

I have been following the blog for Kayleigh for quite a while now. Kayleigh was born 3 months early weighing only 1 pound 1 ounce. She has fought a valiant fight for almost one year but has finally been called to Heaven.

My heart goes out to Kayleigh's family. I can't even imagine the pain they must be going through. Please take a moment to give your children extra hugs and kisses today and everyday.

Here is a link to Kayleigh's blog.

Comparison Pics

I was looking through my pictures tonight, trying to find pictures of the kids in similar poses at similar ages to compare. You know, see how much alike or different they look, do they look like Mommy or Daddy, that sort of thing.

I found these two pictures with somewhat similar poses. Jonathan is in the first one at just over 4 months and Alexis is in the second one at 6 months exactly. Not exactly the same ages but close enough. The thing I really found amusing though was that I was the one in the exact same pose, I just tilted my head in different directions. I think it might be time to do a new hairstyle, it hasn't changed much in 3 1/2 years.
So what do you think? Personally I think you can definitely tell they're related and since they have different fathers they must get the similarities from me. But only the other hand I think you can definitely tell they got their differences from their Daddies. Either way, they're both beautiful babies in my opinion.

Pre-Easter pictures

I wanted to take some Easter pictures of the kids today for the grandparents tomorrow. Hubby didn't want to take the kids to see the Easter bunny and get their pictures taken so I just threw down a black backdrop, dressed them in white and took pictures myself with different poses and props. Here are a few favorites from our session today, first in color which are the ones we will give the grandparents:

Then in black and white, which is usually my personal preference:

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE :

None required unfortunately. On-the-job training offered on a continually exhausting basis.

Get this! You pay them!
Offering frequent raises and bonuses.

BENEFITS:

While no health or dental insurance, no pension, no tuition reimbursement, no paid holidays and no stock options are offered; this job supplies limitless opportunities for personal growth, unconditional love, and free hugs and kisses for life if you play your cards right.

What we've been doing

Life is busy with two little ones now. Nate has been pretty busy working on the house. We knocked down the wall in between the kitchen and Alexis's old room before Jonathan arrived. After he was born we were pretty wrapped up in taking care of him and learning how to juggle things with two kids so that got put on hold for a while. There's not a whole lot of time to work on stuff like that but slowly it is getting done.

He had to do some work with the electrical first which took a while but that's all done now. Now the wall has to be repaired. He's sheetrocked and started mudding it. Now it's just going to take multiple coats of mud and sanding to get it looking normal again. Hoping to be ready to paint the kitchen/diningroom by this weekend maybe. *fingers crossed*

Jonathan just turned 4 months last Friday. Yay, Happy 4 month Bday Jonathan! He had his 4 month check-up last Friday. He now weighs 14 lbs. 10 oz. and is 24 inches long. He's more than doubled his weight since he was born.

He's really getting to be fun lately. Definitely not a newborn anymore. He's been smiling for a while and just started laughing out loud the other day. Of course it's only been for Alexis and at the dinner table when she was pretending to burp. Not the best table manners but if it gets him laughing I'm all for it! Nate, Nate's father and I have been able to get him going a little bit but not the way Alexis did.

He's been sitting up really good, I think he'll definitely hit that milestone at the normal time, if not a little earlier. He hates lying down now and loves to be in his Bumbo. He's been pushing up when he's laying on his tummy but still hates tummy time so we don't force it on him too often. He'll do what he wants when he's ready. He's also started reaching out for toys and grabs anything he can get his hands on.

Alexis is also doing well. It has definitely become obvious that she merging out of the toddler stage and into the child stage lately. She talks a lot now and always has a good story to tell. She has been making things up lately and really exercising her imagination. She enjoys dressing up, building houses, coloring, painting and playing outside, though she has been telling me she wants the snow to go away so it will be summer. We just bought a bike trailer so Nate's been taking her out for bike rides every chance they get since we've gotten it. Shhh, don't tell Alexis but she's getting her own big girl bike for Easter. Then the 3 of us can go for bike rides when it gets nicer and we can bundle Jonathan up in the bike trailer. Fun times. :)

And I, have been busy taking care of the kids and the house. I enjoy being a stay-at-home mom/wife and am very happy with our little family right now. Though I also am anxiously waiting for summer too. I definitely am looking forward to Alexis being able to get outside and get fresh air and exercise more and being able to get Jonathan out and introduce him to the world around him.

So that's what's going on in our neck of the woods.

Past Easter Pictures

I was organizing pictures on my computer and got to reminiscing. With Easter coming up I decided to post some pictures of Alexis from the last few years. Enjoy!

What a weekend!

So Friday night we decided to run to Target for some shelving units we've been looking at for our closet. First we stopped at my dad's house to pick up my little brother so he could stay the night. Then we headed for Target. We were there for maybe 5 minutes when Alexis saw a little girl riding underneath a cart and wanted to do it too. I remember my mom letting me do the same thing when I was her age so I decided to let her. She got under there and I told her "keep your hands away from wheels." Which of course she proceeded to do just that. Her finger was run over by one of the wheels and it almost ripped her fingernail off (remind you of anyone?).

So we took off and made our way to the ER to have a doctor take a look at it. Nate, Jonathan and my little brother dropped Alexis and me off and Alexis's father met us there to help comfort her. She actually took it quite well. She only cried for about 5 minutes when it first happened and was in relatively good spirits the rest of the time.

So after 3 hours and an x-ray to make sure nothing was broken the doctor took a look at it and...put a bandaid on it! Yes, that was it. He said it will probably fall off on it's own in the next few days but in the meanwhile to just leave it alone and change the bandaid when it gets wet. The nail will offer a little more protection to the nailbed and decrease the chances of infection.

Saturday, one of our neighbors came over and told us that they have been having problems with our cats being around their cats. Dang cats! OK, understandable, so now we have to make sure they either stay in or keep them on leashes when they're outside. Anyone who has owned a cat can probably understand how that is going over. One of our cats has already slipped his leash once so now they are stuck in the house and driving us up a wall!

After we found that out we made our way back to Target to finish the shopping we were trying to do the night before plus we now have to buy leashes and collars for the cats. Luckily that trip was a lot less eventful. I talked to my dad on the ride there and he wanted my brother to come home to watch my 2 sisters but I had the great idea of having them drop the girls off to stay the night. Including our own that was 5 kids for the night! I think I must be crazy!

We dropped Alexis off at her father's for a visit for a few hours and went back home. We knocked out some more of the wall in the kitchen to open up the former bedroom into a diningroom. Got that all done and cleaned up just in time for Alexis to get dropped back off at 8:00.

The girls got dropped off about a half hour later and we made cupcakes and the kids played together for a while. We let them stay up a little later than usual since this was kind of a special event for them. Around 10:00 we started trying to get them down. We blew up the air mattress and put them in the livingroom together with a movie on to get them to wind down. That worked for a little while but of course they kept acting up. I eventually went to bed at 3:00am after hours of trying to get them down and they were still up! Then they were up again at 7:00am! Oh, and my little brother was here for the night too but we barely heard a peep out of him. Get him on his laptop and he's fine by himself for hours.

We got everyone up and ready and dropped them off around 11:30 this morning. Shortly after we get a text from my ex. He had his son over when he had Alexis and apparently he had a cold and didn't tell me. Well they found out this morning that he has RSV (poor kid) and my ex tells me to make sure to watch Alexis to see if she's getting sick and keep her away from Jonathan. RSV is pretty serious and can be deadly especially in younger babies, infants, and the elderly. That's just great...

What a crazy weekend.
